YaPaint
Vector drawing, annotation and image composition, rendered by the GPU.
YaPaint is a boundless workspace where you drop images, 3D models and brush strokes to compose, annotate and present. Each stroke is geometry drawn by the graphics card, not a grid of pixels: zoom, move and rotate without degrading anything. It is not photo-retouching software. No subscription, no cloud.
In development

The document is the scene.
A YaPaint document is not a flattened image: it is the scene itself, with its images, strokes, groups and 3D models, saved as it is.
An image used ten times is stored only once, with its levels of detail. Open replaces the document, import adds to it.

What YaPaint does today
Everything below works in the version currently in development.
Eight vector brushes
From the pure line to the ribbon, from particles to the spline curve. Every gesture becomes a mesh that the graphics card draws crisply at every zoom level.
Images in every format
PNG, JPEG, HEIC, WebP, SVG, GIF, TIFF, by drop or by paste. Animated GIF, APNG and WebP files play live in the scene.
3D models on the page
OBJ, glTF and PLY files sit next to the images and rotate on three axes. A walkthrough mode lets you explore the scene in 3D.
17 effects per object
Pixelation, posterisation, halftone, tint, negative, vignette, fire, plasma… Shaders applied object by object, in real time.
Thousands of images
Seen from afar, images are grouped into thumbnails drawn in a single call. Automatic layout and background tasks keep the scene easy to handle.
Precise selection
Clicking in the transparent area of a PNG picks nothing. Rubber-band frame, groups, locking, snapping rotation, merging several objects into one.
Native all the way to the interface.
The interface is written in HTML and CSS, but rendered by our own engine: no embedded browser. The WebP, SVG and GIF decoders are ours as well.
Direct3D 11 rendering, radial menus, remappable keyboard shortcuts, navigation with inertia, light and dark themes, and a monitor showing video memory and the compute time of each frame.

What comes next
Planned for version 1.0, not yet delivered.
