FMeX

Real-time 3D engine for Delphi and FireMonkey.

FMeX is the 3D framework that powers our products, YaPaint first among them. Compatible with standard FireMonkey, it adds what 3D rendering in Delphi lacks: DirectX 11, DirectX 12 and OpenGL backends, scene graph, massive instancing, PBR materials, physics, exchange formats. Natively compiled, no runtime, on the hardware you already have.

Features

A complete, backend-agnostic engine

A S.O.L.I.D architecture: every graphics backend implements the same interface, the rest of the engine does not change.

🖥️

Multi-backend

DirectX 11, DirectX 12 and OpenGL, selected at runtime. HLSL, GLSL and Metal shaders maintained in parallel.

🌳

Scene graph

Spatial nodes, behaviours by composition, frustum culling, picking, gizmos. Two-pass rendering, opaque then transparent.

⚡

Massive instancing

Hundreds of thousands of objects in a single draw call. Static geometry stays in video memory; only what is strictly needed is transferred each frame.

💡

Materials and lights

Blinn-Phong with up to 16 light sources, PBR Cook-Torrance, image-based lighting, shadows, post-processing. A catalogue of ready-to-use materials.

📦

Exchange formats

glTF 2, OBJ, PLY and gaussian splatting, MD2, MagicaVoxel voxels. Direct import, conversion from voxels to optimised meshes.

🎯

Physics and interface

Integrated physics engine behind an agnostic interface, HTML/CSS user interface rendered by the engine, gamepad and keyboard.
